Artist Biography
Combining the dreamlike imagery with the realistic and surrealistic elements and the thought-provoking visuals, Armen Hunanyan’s modern artwork blends fantasy and the subconscious into colorful paintings that question time and space via his signature unique perspective.
Born in Armenia on December 11th 1966 and now residing in Los Angeles California from 1991. Armen Hunanyan was technically trained as a classical artist, studying in traditional art schools at a young age, and after mastering the lessons in Art University in Yerevan Armenia from 1987-1991. Armen Hunanyan began painting at age 5. His art has been exhibited around the world, and his first exhibition premiered in Warsaw, Poland at the age of 12. His works have been shown in Moscow,
St. Petersburg, Los Angeles, Tokyo, New York, Paris, Miami, Munich, Toronto and many other cities.
He quickly established his original style now recognized around the world.
Three distinctive factors distinguish his artwork: the formation of his own blend of paints and colors mixed personally by the artist, his expressed modern symbolism embodying life beyond our realistic imagination; and his completely original brushstrokes which can only be replicated by the artist himself.
“My art is an expression of my very personal vision of nature’s unique beauty,” Armen Hunanyan says. “Rather than imitating the look of nature, I see to recreate its beauty and power through an extensive use of symbolic and realistic images with painting techniques. The symbols that I use are both universal as well as personal. Whether it is a still life, flowers, chess, trees or figurative art, my images convey nature’s regenerative possibilities and its eternal capacity for change.”
Armen Hunanyan’s works feature vertical positioning and the appearance of objects, consisting of symbolic meanings and the suggestion of realistic surrealism and sacred geometry.
“The emerging and dissolving shapes in stalactite-like depths stir up complex associations in the viewer’s sensual, psychic and imaginative mind.” The unique effects of the images are accentuated by inner luminosity, the reflection of light arising from the surface of the paintings.
These powerful feelings are evident in Armen Hunanyan’s masterworks ranging from Horizon of Life, Still Life Of Our World, a multi-dimensional, geometric pattern of classical and modern images contained within, and yet bursting from, a cube, a pyramid and a circle, surrounded by suggestions of infinity and light; and Geometry of Love, featuring a classic nude in profile resting on geometric shapes highlighted by still paintings of fruit, painted in sensuous detail.
Themes of nature, cosmic infinity, figurative compositions, fantasy and quiet magic are woven into the artwork of each Armen Hunanyan’s masterwork.
